China's steel export tax rebate adjustment major events.

2022-03-01

From August 1st, 2021, the export tax rebate for all steel products will be cancelled. At this time, the export of galvanized coil and galvalume steel coil will not enjoy the tax rebate policy.

From May 1st, 2021, the export tax rebate for some steel products will be cancelled, and the tax rebate will be cancelled for color-coated steel coils. The first round of tax rebate adjustment involves 86% steel products and 65-70% export volume, but the specific impact on each product is different.

On March 20th, 2020, the tax rebate rate for steel exports was raised to 13%, including some hot-rolled stainless steel strips, some cold-rolled stainless steel strips, and some stainless steel wires, etc.

On November 1st, 2018, the current 15% and some 13% export tax rebate rates were raised to 16%, 9% to 10%, some of them to 13%, 5% to 6%, and some to 6%. 10%. The export tax rebate rate for "high energy consumption, high pollution, resource-based" products and products facing the task of "de-capacity" remain unchanged;

On July 31th, 2018, the export tax rebate rate was lowered. The goods originally applicable to the 17% export tax rebate were adjusted to 16%, and the goods originally applicable to the 11% export tax rebate were adjusted to 10%;

On July 15th, 2010, some steel export tax rebates were cancelled; (Notice issued on June 22, 2010)

According to the above tax policy adjustment time interval, China's steel imports and exports have different reactions. In 2021, the export tax rebate policy have experienced a large increase and reduction in volume after the implementation of the policy since rumors, speculation and later implementation of the policy. Therefore, under the blessing of China's "dual carbon" policy, steel exports are deeply affected by the adjustment of tax rebates.
